Welcome to the website of Oban Hospice Ltd.
We are a charity whose objective is to support best practice in palliative care in all care settings in Lorn and the Isles. We have been raising funds since 1997, originally with the aim of funding a hospice building in Oban, but, with advances in therapy and changes in practice over the last ten years now with much wider aims. In partnership with NHS Highland and Argyll & Bute Council as well as fellow charities MacMillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care we support the work of nurses, doctors and social services professionals in addition to the families and carers of people needing palliative care throughout Lorn and the Isles.
We currently provide funding for the Day Hospice in Lorn and the Isles Hospital and have provided funding for improvements to the accommodation for relatives of patients receiving palliative care in the hospital. We also fund the post of Oban Hospice Community Services Co-ordinator, who assists those coping with life threatening illness at hime. This service is managed by North Argyll Carers Centre on our behalf.
We hope that you will find all you need to know about us in this web site and will support our work either through direct donations or by supporting the many fundraising events organised by our fundraising arm, Friends of Oban Hospice.
